China issues heavy rain, typhoon alert


Beijing, Sep 13 (IANS): China's National Meteorological Centre (NMC) Saturday issued an alert for heavy rain and typhoon.

From Saturday to Sunday morning, parts of Sichuan province, Chongqing city and Shaanxi province will receive heavy rains, Xinhua reported citing the NMC statement.

Some areas might receive precipitation of 100 to 150 mm, it said.

Areas of Hubei province, Guangdong, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will also be hit by heavy rains.

Typhoon Kalmaegi might also hit China over the weekend, it said.
