Google 'crisis map' to help people in flood-hit Kashmir

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS): Internet giant Google has created a crisis map with updated satellite imagery to facilitate rescue operations in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.

"Our hope is that this will help rescue agencies, volunteers and others involved in rescue operations respond to this crisis by identifying flood zones, evacuation routes and weather conditions," Google said in a statement Saturday.

Over 200 people have died and nearly 1,30,000 people have been rescued in the flood-hit state so far.
