Asian Games: Indian women footballers beat Maldives 15-0


Incheon (South Korea), Sep 14 (IANS): Indian women's football team began its Incheon Asian Games campaign on a high, beating the Maldives 15-0 in their first Group A match at the Namdong Asiad Rugby field here Sunday.

Winger Sasmita Malik and midfielder Kamala Devi were the star performers, scoring five goals each. The Maldivians failed to take even a single shot at the Indian goal.

Captain Bembem Devi, strikers Bala and Prameshwori Devi and defender Ashalata Devi were the other scorers.
