Kolkata, Sep 15 (IANS): Spanish striker Sergio Contreras Pardo commonly known as 'Koke' has signed for Indian Super League (ISL) franchisee North East United Football Club, it said in a media release Monday.
The 31-year-old player, who has 13 years of professional football experience, has turned out for Spain's Malaga and Marseille in France before a good run at Sporting Lisbon of Portugal. He went on to play for the Greek super league team Aris for five years - of which he captained them for two years.
It was largely due to Koke's efforts that Aris finished fourth in the 2006-07 season of Grecian Super League.
On his new journey with North East United FC, Koke said: "I am very eager to start training with my new teammates and am excited about this new journey. I look forward to a great season and to score some winning goals for my team."
NEUFC coach Ricki Herbert said the team was looking at Koke's arrival with excitement and anticipation.
"His experience and pedigree is much awaited and we all look forward to his appearances as a North East United player"
