Udupi, Sep 25: In yet another water tragedy, a student of MIT Manipal near here met watery grave at Kaup beach here on Sunday September 24.

The drowned student has been identified as Ayush Malla (22).  He had gone to Kaup beach along with his friend Sarin Thapa.  Sarin's sister Karishma and her friend Ritika too were with them.  Though all the four of them were washed away, the locals managed to pull them out immediately.  However, Ayush breathed his last on the way to DR TMA Pai Hospital here.

Karishma had come to meet her brother Sarin along with her pal Ritika.  Both Karishma and Ritika were the students of Bishop Cotton College Bangalore.  On Sunday afternoon, Sarin, Karishma, Ritika and Ayush Malla went to Kaup beach.

Till evening, they were sitting near the Light House at Kaup beach.  In the evening, they ventured into sea for swimming.  However, a mighty wave washed them away.  But the alert locals pulled them out of the sea.  They were provided with treatment.  Though Sarin, Karishma and Ritika recovered, Ayush did not respond to first aid.  So he was taken to Dr TMA Pai Hospital in the city.  However, he breathed his last on his way to the hospital.

Kaup police have registered a case in this regard.
