Police investigate British couple's murder in Thailand

Bangkok, Sep 16 (IANS): Police Tuesday questioned three men from Myanmar over the brutal murder of a British couple in Thailand.

According to police, their bodies were due to arrive in Bangkok for forensic tests, the Bangkok Post reported.

David Miller, 24, and Hannah Witheridge, 23, were found semi-naked and beaten to death early Monday near a beachside bungalow on the island of Koh Tao.

Witheridge's skirt was hiked up to her waist and T-shirt pulled up. She was raped and had a large injury on her face.

Miller was found naked with an injury to the back of his head.

A pair of shorts, a T-shirt and pair of jeans were found nearby.

A bloodstained hoe (handtool used for gardening) was found at the scene, the police added.

The couple had arrived in the island Aug 25.

Koh Tao, home to white sand beaches and azure waters, draws hordes of foreign backpackers to its "full moon" parties.
