Priya Dutt's tribute to the Mahatma

Priya Dutt along with the entire unit of Lage Raho Munnabhai is undertaking a Peace March on 2nd Oct, the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

“We would like to propagate the values Gandhi ji stood for and spread the message of Peace through out the country. The world adopts and practices Gandhi ji’s principles and we should all follow the path he has shown us.” said Priya Dutt.

“I appeal to people from all walks of life who believe in Peace , specially senior citizens and children to join me in the march.” Priya added.

Priya herself has been part of several of her dad, Shri Sunil Dutt saabs’s peace efforts, be it to Amritsar (during the height of terrorism in Punjab),the SAARC countries or to Nagasaki and Hiroshima in Japan.

“Gandhigiri is the new slogan of the country and has specially caught a fancy with the young people.” said Krishna Hegde , one of the coordinators.

“Mr Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi and the entire unit of Munnabhai will join us in the Peace March. We are also expecting other big names to join us in this cause. The Peace March will start from SNDT College, Juhu,Vileparle (W) and will end at Juhu Beach, where all will pay homage to the Father of our Nation.” Hegde added.

Priya Dutt has also organized a special screening of `Lage Raho Munnabhai’ later in the day for Senior Citizens from the Home for the Aged, under privileged children, orphans and cancer patients.

Sunil Dutt Memorial Football Tournament

The Sunil Dutt Memorial Football tournament is being organized by Congress Minister Suresh Shetty at Holy Family School grounds , Andheri (E).

Thirtytwo teams are playing in the tournament which is being held on 10, 17, 23, 24 th Sept., the finals will be played on 1st Oct, at 5.00 pm.

An exhibition match between 2 women teams from Mumbai will be the highlight of the evening.

The prizes for the 9 a side tournament include Rs 15,000 + trophy for the winning team, Rs 8000 + trophy for the runners up and 5000 + trophy for 3rd place.

This year the scale of the tournament has been upgraded and teams from across the North-West District will play in the same.

Prominent amongst the players in the tournament are Mathias Coutinho who represents the Maharashtra State,under 16 team.

MESA is back !

MESA (Mithibai Ex Students Association has organized its annual get together at Rock Bottom , Juhu.) Dates will be finalized shortly.

“Last year Mesa felicitated Ashutosh Gowarikar, producer and director of socially relevant films like Lagaan and Swades. Celebrities like Music Director Himesh Reshamiyya, Social activist and Film Director Ashok Pandit, Film writer Robin Bhatt ,Former Deputy Mayor Ram Barot , Music Directors Sajid- Wajid, Actor Sharbani Mukherjee, TV actor Tina Parekh graced the occasion.” said Krishna Hegde , Convener of MESA

“ We will felicitate prominent personalities from Business, Performing Arts, Sports and Social work this year. We will be taking MESA to another level. We are happy to have prominent people from all walks of life who are members of MESA.” said Khalid Khan, President of MESA.

MESA is a socially responsible organisation and had collected money for widows of Kargil Jawans, organized heath camps and blood donation drives.

Prominent Mithibai Alumni include Ajay Devgan, Bobby Deol, Raveena Tandon, Shreyas Talpade,Anu Malik from the Film Industry, Sportpersons Pravin Amre, Amol Mazumdar,Kavita Sood, Industrialists Mohanbhai Patel, Jay Shroff , Models Madhu Sapre, Namrata Barua, Television Personalities Ekta Kapoor,Chetan Hansraj, Riva Bubber, Mansi Joshi, Reality Tv champions Ameya Date, Niharika Joshi and Rahul Vaidya amongst others.

Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Project

The 2nd Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Computer Education Project is being organized by Congress MP Priya Dutt during the Diwali holidays in Bandra (W), Kandivali and Dahisar areas.

1200 persons from all walks of life, including women and children, benefited from the earlier project.
