Carry relief measures on war footing, Centre advises Kashmir


New Delhi, Sep 16 (IANS): Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth Tuesday reviewed the relief and rehabilitation work in flood-affected Jammu and Kashmir here and advised the state chief secretary to execute relief measures on a war footing.

The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), under the chairmanship of Seth, reviewed the situation and spoke to the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey.

The committee took stock of the steps being taken to restore power, drinking water and connectivity through roads.

Efforts to review communication were also reviewed.

"The cabinet secretary advised the chief secretary to ensure that the work of distribution of relief measures to the needy people should be taken up on the war footing," a home ministry statement said.
