Tibetans protest Chinese president's visit


New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS): Tibetan emigres Wednesday staged a protest here against Chinese President Xi Jingping's visit to India.

The protesters, carrying Tibetan flags, staged demonstartions outside the Chinese embassy in New Delhi's Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave.

"We demand our freedom, and that is what we are protesting for," said one of the demonstrators.

Police detained a few of the Tibetans as they tried to break the barricades and violate norms.

Xi, who is on a three-day visit to India, will arrive in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, later in the afternoon. He will be received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
