Saradha scam: ED grills Mohun Bagan officials

Kolkata, Sep 17 (IANS): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Wednesday questioned officials of Kolkata football club Mohun Bagan, including secretary Debashis Dutta, in connection with the multi-crore-rupee Saradha scam.

The ED earlier grilled key officials of two other city-based football clubs, East Bengal and Kalighat Club.

"We were questioned about the club's sponsorship deal with the Saradha," Dutta told media persons after the grilling.

Three East Bengal officials and Kalighat Club's secretary Babloo Koley were interrogated earlier in the week.

East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar has already been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the state's biggest financial scandal.

Meanwhile, Doordarshan's former director general Ratikanta Basu has been summoned by the CBI for questioning.

A CBI official said Basu was summoned regarding the sale of three TV channels to the Saradha Group in 2011.

Basu, who owned the channels under the brand named "Tara", has already been questioned by the ED regarding the sale.
