Army kills two guerrillas in Kashmir


Srinagar, Sep 17 (IANS): The army Wednesday killed two guerrillas during a counter-terrorist operation in Jammu and Kashmir.

A defence spokesman told IANS in Srinagar Wednesday: "Army today killed two terrorists in the Machil sector of the Line of Control in Kupwara district of the state.

"Two AK-47 rifles, one under barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) along with other war-like stores were recovered from the slain terrorists. The operation is still in progress."

He added: "This is third counter-terrorist operation carried out by the army while they are still continuing with the relief, rescue and restoration operation in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir. In the earlier counter-terrorist operations by the Rashtriya Rifles in the recent past, four terrorists were killed and four weapons were recovered."
