Rio de Janeiro, Sep 18 (IANS): A local judge is set to decide the fate of Rio's 2016 Olympic golf course after a hearing failed to end an impasse over the site's development.
Public prosecutors have called for changes to the course design claiming it will cause environmental degradation to a nature reserve, reports Xinhua.
A local court had given organisers until Wednesday to present an alternative proposal. But an agreement failed to be reached and the course's future now rests with judge Eduardo Klausler.
Earlier this week, the president of Rio's 2016 organising committee Carlos Nuzman insisted that the course's development was on track to be completed on time.
