Margao, Sep 29: Panchayat Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Thursday said that 40 Village Panchayat’s would have their own Garbage disposal project (GDP) by end of December 2006, which will somehow solve the problem of garbage up to village level.
To tackle the problem of garbage in the state, Zilla Panchayat, in association with Village panchayat had planned to identify the places for GDP, for which 20 Panchayats have already completed the formalities and another 20 have identified the places. Soon they will complete the require documentation, Shirodkar told press persons.
To Zilla Panchayat more action-oriented, he said that by making some important changes in the Panchayat Rajya Act 1994, the more Powers would be given to them.
