Mangalore, Sep 30: The newly-constructed Gowri Mantapa in the Shri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple at Kudroli here was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha member B Janardhan Poojary.

In his address he presented the brief history behind this famous temple and enlightened the gathering on various facts which are not known to many.

The murals and wooden carvings in the Gowri Mantapa depict Lord Shiva entering into nuptials with Gowri amidst chanting of hymns by deities. With the inauguration of Gowri Mantapa, the tourists now have another spot to visit in the temple.  Everyday, hundreds of devotees throng to the temple and offer prayers and offerings.  The temple has also gained much popularity for its beauty and aesthetic depiction.

Moodbidri MLA Abhayachandra Jain, mayor K Ashraf, former Suratkal MLA, Vijaykumar Shetty, ZP president Mamata D S Gatti and All India Billavar Federation President Jaya C Suvarna were also present on dais.
