With reciprocal arrangement with Star of Mysore
Mysore, Oct 1: In a daring highway dacoity on the Outer Ring Road of city in the early hours a canter lorry loaded with medicines, drugs and tonics was hijacked by a band of dacoits who came in three vehicles.
The dacoits made away with the goods worth Rs 60 lac, along with the truck and also allegedly assaulted three persons - truck driver Beeru, cleaner Raji and security staff Vijayakumar - who are being treated at K R Hospital.
The truck (KL40 - 668) laden with medicines, left a drug manufacturing unit in Bangalore on Thursday night along with the three persons, for Ernakulam, Kerala.
At around 1 am on Friday, while the truck was on the Outer Ring Road (near Vidya Vikas Education Society on Bannur Road), a Tata Sumo, Maruti Van and a Canter truck surrounded it.
About six persons are said to have alighted from the vehicles, assaulted the three persons and robbed them of Rs 8,400 in cash, one gold chain and two cell phones.
The three occupants of the truck were then taken in one of the vehicles brought by the dacoits on the Bangalore road and were abandoned near Srirangapatna, as per the complaint lodged with the Police.
They said in the complaint that the dacoits had taken the medicine-laden truck towards Bangalore. The dacoits are said to be aged around 30 years, well built and of dark complexion.
DCP P Rajendra Prasad, ACP C Krishnappa, Inspector Lakshmegowda, Sub-Inspector J C Leelaraj and staff visited the spot and conducted preliminary investigations.
A case has been registered by Nazarbad Police.
