Mumbai, Sep 22: St Treasa Church Konkani Community Association on New Link road at Bandra west celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Mother Mary as part of their 12th year's annual programme.
Children and devotees brought the statue of Mother Mary in a procession to the podium and honored her by offering flowers.
St Sebastian Church Thokooru Chief Priest Fr Richard Lasrado led the Novena and blessed the cleaned corn, wax candles, fruits, flowers and vegetable.
Mira Road east St Joseph Church Chief Priest Fr Nelson Pinto OCD, offered the mass. Fr Sunil Menezes, Principal of St Treeza educational
institutes conveyed the message of Mother Mary in his sermon. Tracy Peres and Vera Alvares read the Bible. William D' Souza read the prayers of the faithful.
Musician Nefy Rodrigues group sang holy hymns. Munitha Veigas, Mangalore participated in them. The priest presented candles to the donors and honored them.
In the programme that followed the mass, Fr Bernard Rodrigues, Chief Priest of St Treeza Church, lighted the traditional lamp and set the programme in motion. Mand Sobhan Kalangan, Mangalore, Executive President Rony Mendonca, Bandra, Welwin company director Pramila Vincent Mathais and Musician Munita Veigas, Mangalore were the guests of honor.
Juliet D' Sillva, Chief Organizer of the programme, welcomed. Joy Saldanha Kemmannu, Chief Organizer of the celebrations gave an introductory speech and introduced the guests.
Kenny Zuzart, popular musician of Konkani Music sphere and his group presented musical programme as part of cultural programme. St Treeza Association senior members presented dances and farces under the direction of Tarun, student of world famous dancer Terrance Louis.
Riyola Mathais Mira Road and group presented dance programmes. Nefi Rodrigues provided music. Sachin Mira Road, compered the programme. Richard D' Souza, proposed Vote of thanks.
Local people of Karnataka coastal origin, added glamor to the festivities. Sugarcane was distributed to all those who were present. Pure traditional vegetarian meals were served mixed with blessed corn at the end of the programme.
