AAI makes deal with USTDA on security equipment testing

New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS): The state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) Tuesday entered into an agreement with US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) for the development of aviation security equipment testing and evaluation programme.

"This will enable AAI and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to create clear standards, specifications and testing procedures specific to India’s own standards of aviation security," the civil aviation ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, these procedures will be also in alignment with international practices for three types of aviation security equipment which are designed to scan carry-on luggage, checked baggage and passengers.
