Indian women cyclists finish last at Asiad


Incheon, Sep 23 (IANS): Indian women track cyclists Deborah and Kezia Vargheese finished at the bottom of their qualifier, finishing ninth and 10th respectively in the sprint division at the 17th Asian Games here Tuesday.

The qualifying round was topped by China's Tianshi Zhong, who cycled at an average speed of 66.79 kmph to set a new Games record of 10.78 seconds to complete 200 metres. She also holds the Asian record at 10.573 seconds.

Deborah clocked 12.118 seconds with an average speed of 59.415 kmph while compatriot Kezia took 12.897 seconds at an average spped of 55.826 km/h at the Incheon International Velodrome.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals are scheduled to be held Wednesday.
