Trezeguet scores as FC Pune City win friendly 3-1


Pune, Sep 23 (IANS): Former French international and 'marquee' player David Trezeguet scored as Indian Super League (ISL) franchisee FC Pune City defeated Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) 3-1 in a friendly match at the Police Ground in Shivaji Nagar here Tuesday.

Playing their second friendly at home, FC Pune City created opportunities at will from both flanks and produced several goal-scoring opportunities. They went ahead after 15 minutes through Ivan Bolado, who utilised a wonderful assist by Israel Gurung. Two minutes later, Trezeguet scored his team's second goal latching onto a long pass from Kwang Park IL.

They went into the break preserving the two-goal lead and went 3-0 up just on the stroke of the hour mark when Israel Gurung netted from a beautiful solo effort. ONGC pulled a goal back in the dying minutes of the match through a FC Pune City own goal.

FC Pune City head coach Franco Colomba expressed his satisfaction but said there is scope for improvement. "I am very happy about the performance of the boys in the first 70 minutes. They coordinated well and played according to a plan. However, there are areas that we need to work upon. This was a good test towards improving the weaker aspects," said Colomba, after the match.
