India's Mars mission has made 'world turn back and see'


Chennai, Sep 24 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah Wednesday said the success of India's maiden Mars mission has made other nations to "turn back and see".

In a statement issued here, Rosaiah congratulated the Indian space scientists on the occasion. He said: "Today India has made a history by becoming the first country in the world to make it to Mars in its maiden attempt, which has made the world nations to turn back and see."

"It is a matter of great pride for each and every citizen of this great nation which has once again proved that the days of India becoming a super power are not far off," Rosaiah added.

Congratulating the Indian space scientists for their achievement, DMK president M. Karuananidhi said the scientific instruments in the Mars Orbiter will enable India to get details about the presence of minerals and water.

He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for the support extended to the Indian space agency.
