- Memorandum to be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner
Mangalore, Oct 4: The demand for implementation of the Mahajan Commission has centred on Belgaum. The recommendation of the commission to include Kasargod as part of Karnataka has not received adequate attention, Pradip Kumar Kalkura, president of Dakshina Kannada unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, said on Tuesday.
The parishat would submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday demanding that the State Government take steps to include Kasargod as a part of the State, he said.
Another demand was that Tulu be recognised as an official language under the 8th schedule of the constitution. He said people of Mangalore must support the statewide bandh called on Wednesday, to protest against the Centre's decision to withdraw an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Karnataka-Maharashtra border issue.
He said the parishat was not clear about who had called for the bandh, but would extend complete support to it.
