South Korea breaks compound archery world record


Incheon, Sep 25 (IANS): South Korea set a new world record for the women's compound archery team event at the 17th Asian Games here Thursday.

The host team of Seok Ji-hyun, Choi Bo-min and Kim Yun-hee totalled 238 points out of a possible 240 in the team's quarter-final victory over Laos, reports Xinhua.

The previous record of 236 points was set by the US in 2011.

South Korea overcame Iran 229-222 in the semifinals and will take on Chinese Taipei for the gold medal Saturday.

Chinese Taipei edged into the semifinals with a narrow 226-224 win over India.

Compound archery, a non-Olympic medal event, is making its debut at the Asian Games.
