Kundapur, Oct 5: The Shankarnarayana police have arrested two persons for illegal transportation of cattle for slaughtering at Goliyangadi near here on Wednesday October 4.
The cattle were illegally transported to Mangalore from Goliyangadi. There were 30 cows being transported in vehicle. There were four persons on the tempo while two more were following them on mobike.
The police intercepted the tempo and rescued cattle. The vehicle too has been seized. Two persons, that is, Ashraf (28), son of Shekabba of Kulai and Mohammad (48), son of Ahmad have been arrested. However, four others, Ashraf, Anwar, Shankar and Abdulla have managed to escape.
The Shankarnarayana police have registered a case under Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Animal Sacrifice Act.
