Potential of tourism, hospitality sectors immense: PM


New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said there is "immense scope" for growth in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

"It is estimated that tourism sector is the fastest growing sectors in the world. Does India has the ability to capture it," Modi asked while launching the "Make in India" campaign designed to put India prominently on the global manufacturing map.

"Tourism and hospitality sectors have immense scope and a lot of avenues... If we want to develop tourism in the country, we need huge and better infrastructure," he said, urging industry leaders present to work towards exploiting all avenues.

Modi unveiled the ambitious scheme along with a logo, a dedicated portal and brochures on 25 identified growth sectors that included tourism and hospitality at the Vigyan Bhavan conference complex here.

The brochures provide details of growth drivers, investment opportunities, sector-specific foreign direct investment (FDI) and other policies and related agencies.

The corporate leaders pledged support for Modi's campaign.
