ONGC takes initiative to conserve Taj Mahal


New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS): Energy exploration major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Thursday entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Tourism Ministry for conservation of Taj Mahal, under the clean India campaign.

According to the energy major, the MoU is a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative and is aimed at restoration, preservation, beautification and general cleanliness in and around the monument.

"To begin with, ONGC will invest Rs.20.75 crore for the conservation of the Taj Mahal. The objective (of the campaign) is also to ensure increased tourist inflow to the country," the energy major said in a statement.
