Two killed in Karachi terror attack

Islamabad, Sep 26 (IANS) At least two people were killed and seven injured when an explosives-laden vehicle was rammed into a police van in Pakistan's port city of Karachi.

A targeted police official survived the attack with minor injuries.

A Suzuki pick up with 100 kg explosives in it was parked at the blast site. It was blown away with a remote control just as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farooq Awan’s vehicle was passing it, sources said. The blast destroyed his vehicle, Geo News reported.

Awan suffered minor injuries and given medical aid at the hospital. It was a second attack on the police official. In 2010 attack, he had sustained bullet wounds on his leg.

He was on a hit-list of a proscribed outfit and had already informed the high ups about the threats to his life, sources said.
