NATO aviation drill begins in Bulgaria

Sofia, Sep 26 (IANS) An exercise of the NATO air defence for actions during radio interference kicked off in Bulgaria, the country's defence ministry said Thursday.

The bilateral drill "Ramstein Guard-8", involving the Air Forces of Bulgaria and Italy, will continue until next Friday, Xinhua quoted a statement as saying.

Italian aircraft Tornado and Eurofighter Typhoon, temporarily based in the Balkan country, and Bulgarian MiG-29 and MiG-21 along with anti-aircraft missile squadrons, radar stations and command posts, will participate in the exercise, it added.

From the end of August to the first decade of September, 12 US aircraft temporarily guarded Bulgarian airspace under the integrated NATO air defence system during the US-Bulgarian flight training "Thracian Eagle 2014".
