Mangalore, Oct 6: City's wait to have a new mayor finally seems to have come to an end.  The sources said that the State Urban Development department has issued an order to MCC to hold mayoral elections soon.  Accordingly, the elections will be held on Tuesday October 17, said mayor K Ashraf.

He further said that the order issued by the department has already reached the MCC and therefore the latter has taken steps to hold elections.  Since, notification has to be issued at least a week earlier, the elections are scheduled for October 17.

Though mayoral elections were to be held in the month of July, owing to problems with the reservation for both mayor's as well as deputy mayor's, the elections were postponed.  The issue was finally decided in the High Court.
