Ukraine rebels denounce killing of three people

Moscow, Sep 26 (IANS/EFE): Pro-Russian separatists denounced Friday the killing of three people and the wounding of 12 others over the last 24 hours in shelling by Ukrainian forces in the eastern region of Donetsk.

The troops shelled the villages of Belaya Kamenka, Yelenovka, Fashevka and Kirovskoye, according to statement released by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

A DPR spokeperson told a Russian news agency that the artillery attacks damaged seven residential buildings, a school and a shop.

The pro-Russian rebels accused authorities in Kiev of not pulling back their heavy artillery from areas in Donetsk despite signing a peace deal last week.

The militia units continued the withdrawal of their heavy weaponry from the frontlines to fulfill the agreement reached with Ukraine said the spokesman, who condemned the Ukrainian forces for not doing the same.

In addition, the municipal authorities in Donetsk reported Friday the shelling of the city that was inhabited by nearly a million people before the outbreak of the armed conflict last spring.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian military sources accused the pro-Russian militias of violating the truce.
