Udupi, Oct 6: An NCC student of MGM College at Manipal who had come for boat training in a river at Udyavar near here died of drowning on Thursday October 5 evening.
Bhavyashree (21), a resident of Korangrapadi near here had gone for training along with 10 other NCC cadets on Thursday. Local NCC chief Parashuram was training the cadets in the river. There were 3 girls and 7 boys in the batch. However, Bhavyashree fell in the deep water after slipping from the boat.
Though the trainer and other trainees tried to trace her, they did not succeed. It was almost an hour-long search that her body was found.
Kaup police have registered a case in this regard.
