Bangalore, Oct 7: The Karnataka Cabinet on Saturday approved teaching of English as a subject in all Kannada medium schools from the coming academic year, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti informed on Saturday..

Emerging out of the Cabinet meeting, he told reporters here that it had approved teaching of English as a subject in lower primary schools. Likewise, a Kannada subject would be made compulsory in all English medium schools.

"Kannada will also be made compulsory, instead of optional, in the linguistic minority schools from third standard,'' he said.
