Security breach: Murder accused gifts turban to Rajnath

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (IANS): In a glaring breach of security, a murder accused placed a turban on Home Minister Rajnath Singh outside the famed Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple here. The police are probing the lapse.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist Santhosh, a key accused in the 2008 murder of a CPI-M youth activist, was captured on TV gifting the turban to the home minister Saturday. It was aired Sunday.

Santhosh is currently out on bail.

Rajnath Singh was in the capital city on his way to attend the 61st birthday celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi and before proceeding to Kollam, he arrived at the temple to offer prayers.

The pictures that have now come out show Santhosh placing the ceremonial head gear on Rajnath Singh's head after his temple visit.

The police have started looking into how the security goof-up occurred.
