Bharat Bank gets best performing bank award

Mumbai, Sep 29: The Maharastra Urban Cooperative Bank's Federation Limited has awarded state level best performing bank award for the fifth time to prestigious finance institution Bharath Cooperative Bank (Mumbai) Limited. The bank is owned by Billavara Association, Mumbai.

In the 35th annual general body meeting of the federation held at the Indian Sports Club hall in Vadala on Saturday, Sep 27, Federation president Vidyadhar Anaskar honored Bharath bank's Executive Vice President, advocate Rohini J Salian and Bank's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer C R Mulki by presenting the award.

Addressing the gathering, Anaskar said that the award is selected by judges from Indian and foreign expert bankers in a transparent manner. The selection is done from among banks which abide by the guidelines of the RBI for the benefit of customers. It is not sufficient if an account is opened in the bank. The bank and the customer will benefit by it only if it is used for business. The contribution of the cooperative sector is praiseworthy in between challenging adversaries. May the service improve further to make it trustworthy in the country, he said.

The federation organizers said that the award is presented considering excellence in various financial parameters. This is the fifth award secured by the bank from Banks Federation. That too, being honored with first prize is noteworthy. Bank's all round administrator, bank's executive president Jaya C Suvarna's able leadership and guidance, is behind the award, said Rohini J Salian.

Bharath bank has 55 branches in Karnataka and Maharastra. Reserve Bank of India, has given permission to open another 15 branches this year. We will be opening 2 branches in Karnataka and 13 branches in Maharastra. The RBI has permitted to open 17 branches during next year. So 3 branches will be opened in Gujarath, 2 in Karnataka and 1 in Pune and 11 branches will be opened in Mumbai.

The bank has Rs 7,063.50 crore deposits, Rs 4790.86 crore advances and had a turnover of Rs 11,854.36 crores, said C R Mulki.

Billavara Association Mumbai president and Bank's General Manager Nityananda D Kotian, Bank's director Chandrashekar S Poojary, K N Suvarna, J A Kotian, K B Poojary, Gangadhar Poojary, Bank's General Manager Anil Kumar R Amin and Chief Manager Shobha Dayanand were present during the award ceremony.

Bank's Federation Vice President Ajay Brahmecha, Convener Manohar Mendjoge, Damodar Majgavnkar, Gulabrao Shelke, Kailashchandra Agraval, Satyanarayana Lohiya,

Bapurao B Poojary, Bhaskar Kothavde, Vilas Desai, C B Adsool, Convener Shobha Savanth and other office bearers were present.

Chief officer Sailee Boyir compeered the programme. A homage was held for K Eknath Thakur and others who served the banking industry and passed away.
