President congratulates Asian Games medal winners


New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday congratulated Indian medal winners in the ongoing Asian Games, saying the country is proud of their achievements.

In individual messages, Mukherjee said: "Please accept my hearty congratulations and best wishes. India is proud of your achievement, which has ensured that our flag flies high in the international arena."

"I wish you continued success in all your future endeavours," he added.

The medal winners include Yogeshwar Dutt for winning gold medal in wrestling (men's freestyle 65 kg), Seema Punia for winning gold medal in athletics (women's discus throw), Sania Mirza and Saketh Myneni for winning gold medal in tennis (mixed doubles), and Sanam Singh and Saketh Myneni for winning silver medal in tennis (men's doubles).

The list also included Bajrang Kumar for winning silver medal in wrestling (men's freestyle 61 kg), O.P. Jaisha for winning bronze medal in athletics (women's 1,500 m), Narsingh Pancham Yadav for winning bronze medal in wrestling (men's freestyle 74 kg), Naveen Kumar for winning bronze medal in athletics (men's 3,000 m steeplechase), Lalita Babar for winning bronze medal in athletics (women's 3,000 m steeplechase), Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan for winning bronze medal in tennis (men's doubles), Sania Mirza and Prarthana Thombare for winning bronze medal in tennis (women's doubles), M.R. Poovamma for winning bronze medal in athletics (women's 400 m), Rajiv Arokia for winning bronze medal in men's 400 m and Manju Bala for winning bronze medal in athletics (women's hammer throw).
