Kundapur, Oct 9: A couple who were living in a rented house ended their life by jumping into the well at Ampar in the Shankarnarayana police station limits on Saturday October 7 night.
Janardhan Achari (40), a resident of Sagar in Shimoga district and his wife Chandravati Achari (32), daughter of Bachu Achari of Moodubage of Moodubage jumped into the nearby well after verbal brawl on Saturday night. While Janardhan was working in a garage at Siddhapur, Chandravati was a daily-wage worker.
On Saturday night, the couple had a verbal fight during the dinner. An enraged Chandravati left in between the dinner and jumped into a well behind their house. Janardhan who followed her, also jumped into the well. It was their children Karthik (11) and Prateek (4) who informed the neighbours about this tragedy.
They informed the fire brigade who removed the body of Chandravati on Saturday night itself. However, Janardhan's body was removed only on Sunday morning. It is said that the couple had fight over a property issue which led them to commit suicide.
The Shankarnarayana police have registered a case in this regard.
