Guerrilla killed in Kashmir gunfight


Srinagar, Sep 30 (IANS): A separatist guerrilla was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara Tuesday, police said.

"Acting on specific information regarding presence of militants, security forces launched a joint operation in Afan Warnow village of Lolab area of Kupwara," a police officer told IANS here.

"The joint party of 18 Rashtriya Rifles and Kupwara police was fired upon, triggering a gunfight during which an unidentified militant was killed," he said, adding an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, 60 rounds, two cell phones, a GPS and an under-barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) grenade have been recovered from the site.
