India lose in Asiad women's volleyball


Incheon, Sep 30 (IANS): The Indian women's volleyball team lost their 5th-8th position playoff contest to Kazakhstan in the 17th Asian Games at the Ansan Sangroksu Gymnasium here Tuesday.

India lost 0-3 in an hour and nine minutes, bowing out 20-25, 19-25, 20-25. Indian blocker Raju Tiji was the match's joint best scorer along with Yelena Gordeyeva with 11 points but that was not enough to secure a win.

They will play Hong Kong in the 7th-8th place classification match Thursday. Hong Kong lost 0-3 (18-25, 14-25, 9-25) to Chinese Taipei in an hour and two minutes earlier in the day.
