Indian women hoopsters finish 6th at Asiad

Incheon, Oct 1 (IANS): The Indian women's basketball team lost the 5th-6th position playoff 47-68 to Kazakhstan to end sixth at the Asian Games here Wednesday.

India were totally outplayed by their opponents, who led the entire match right from the start at the Hwaseong Sports Complex Gymnasium.

While Kazakhstan were not too far away in the first quarter, leading 15-12, they pulled away to lead 36-22 at halftime.

India performed dismally in the third quarter, taking only four points to Kazakhstan's 19 but came back strongly in the last quarter to take 21 points to Kazakhstan's 13.

However, it did not help much as the lead in the first three sessions was enough to give the Kazakh girls a comfortable victory.
