India not to join war on ISIS: Official

Washington, Oct 1 (PTI) : India is not going to join "any coalition" in the ongoing fight against the dreaded ISIS group in West Asia but agreed to work with the US to deal with the "major issue" of flight of radicalised people to that region for terror strikes.

The Indian stand over any participation in the US-led coalition air strikes in the war on terrorism against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria was outlined by an official of Ministry of External Affairs even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his concerns during summit talks with President Barack Obama over emerging challenges in West Asia.

Vikram Doraiswami, Joint Secretary (Americas) in the MEA, during a media briefing on yesterday's summit talks said India was not going to join "any coalition" against terrorism but the two sides had agreed on the need to deal with "travellers of terrorism" -- radicalised people who travel for participating in terror activities in West Asia.

"This is a very major issue for us," he said while referring to reports of movement of radicalised youth from India to that region.

Likewise, it was clarified that a trilateral partnership agreed on Afghanistan, would be developmental in nature and not military cooperation.

Doraiswami also said that the "joint and concerted efforts" on dismantling safe havens for terrorist groups and criminal networks as resolved by India and the US in the Joint Statement did not mean that the two countries were going to launch operations but will carry out any UN-mandated task. India does not have an exact figure on the number of radicalised youth from the country in Iraq.

In what could be a warning bell for the security agencies in India, reports have emerged that the dreaded ISIS group has been recruiting youths from states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir to fight in Iraq, Syria and other places in the Middle East. It has also been said that the ISIS is particularly targeting Muslim youths.

Modi during his joint media appearance with Obama said the two countries agreed to intensify cooperation in counter terrorism and intelligence sharing.

Obama said India was emerging as a major power for peace and security in the region. Modi in his address to the UN General Assembly in New York last Saturday had said that "extremism and fault lines" were growing in West Asia

Travelers of terrorism from India should be India's grave concern. Since this would be the first lot to rebel against India if their fundamentalist group give a call against our country putting religion first.

    you reply is like bakra.
that is thier ploy to recruit more guys from subcontinent as
isis is short of manpower.they are not
    getting enough men to sacrifice
    thier life for this
group designs of ruling large parts of middle east which will surely not happen.

so by throwing chandamama stories like they will capture gujrat blah blah,
they try to emotionally exploit some of subcontinent people to join thier group
so that they can used as front line sitting ducks if war takes place and these
isis guys want to hide in thier back and want to save thier dear lives if war takes place.

any sane guy can understand this.

It is true that we never participated in invasion of any other Countries in the World. But unfortunately few tainted Indians want to join the Jihad Team. I think better our Government promotes them to join Jihad Team with one way ticket so that our inner problem can be solved to certain extent.

U.S. and other prominent world leaders including Israel may have understood P.M. Modi's mind, real concern and message on global terror!
Statement made on terrorism in India would be debated for long specially during election speeches, when Modi said that it is not home grown but exported into India.

india is not bakra country like paki to involve in others war in middle east.why india should fight against isis?

    have they entered indian territory?
they want to take control of large middle east territory.
let they take it, who cares?usa will never allow it as it want its dummies only to rule so that it can have free access to oil sources there.

isis knows india is too strong to meddle with and india will remove gasses out of this groups body, if they tried such misadventure.
only a bakra nation will join usa in this game and become laughing stock in front of the world.did japan, china, russia joined it?
    no.
    then why india should join.
some readers telling india should join war have lost thier nerves, probably after may 16 2014..

I cannot understand why then Modi all these days in US calling US for together fight against terrorism (any where globally? Then he has no right to ask help from US for freezing D or Hakkani or LTe accounts Is it not ISIS ideology of expanding terrorism threat to whole world? Is India is spared ?

IF India won't join coalistion then isis will join India soon to put a flag. So makes no difference to the USA because US is smart enough to play its cards with India. it is just becasue of US help these terrors are under control otherwise by now they must have been terrorising half India. these terrors has no father, mothers.

this could be ONE of those biggest mistake we r making! Tomorrow we may need to fight them at our doorstep in Kashmir/Pakistani border!!

See, even a Indian Muslim feels, ISIS are criminal rogues and there is nothing islamic in them.. even they would have supported us taking this step wholeheartedly!

Problem is, US (Even australia) has no islamic country in its region and it is geographically very safe, unlike Russia or India! they r strategically located amidst cuba, mexico, canada etc and they can boss around! even China, Russia cant threaten them with missiles... only worry in North Korea for them, but then their poverty is crazy! so US can go and wage war on anybody for beheading their journo.. we cant do it, even if they eliminate our leaders!! thats the handicap! but then, how long will we sit silently n watch the show and expect a permanent seat in UN sec council?

isis is a baby created by usa(and its western allies)
    along with saudi arabia
    (and its sunni countries alliance)
to take on shia governed countries like syria, iran, iraq, palestine
    etc.

isis is a weak entity.but it is portrayed to be strong bcoz
its a baby of usa and saudi and they want it to survive and
    become strong
so that it can topple govts of syria, iraq, iran etc.

usa has time and again created these terror entities like alqaeda, isis etc and they
know how to decimate them when they go out of thier control .even in future they will
create some more entites just to
maintain thier hegemony in world politics.

india should not get involved in this
game played by usa and saudi along with thier allies
and stick to its age old policy of non alignment.

Why U.S. create babies like ISIS & Al Queida?
Are there lot of similarities between them?
Why should ISIS & Al Queida born to Father like U.S?
Why do they get easily provoked and harm? To take birth and to get killed later on?

alqaeda was created by usa to take on russia in afganistan.after thier agenda is completed by driving out russia from afgan, this terror entity exceeded thier mandate and refused to arms and went against usa as they wanted to rule large part of middle east and got decimated therafter by the same usa.i have read somewhere that bin laden was a gold medalist trained in us airforce academy.

same with isis.this was created by usa to bring down basheer asad regime of syria and al maliki of iraq.
