Wife's punishment pushes husband into diabetic coma in Dubai

Dubai, Oct 2 (PTI) : A 50-year-old Arab man slipped into diabetic coma in Dubai after his wife locked him up in bathroom to "teach him a lesson" for remarrying.

He made a distress call to the Dubai Unified Ambulance telling them that he was on the verge of unconsciousness.

When paramedics reached his house, his wife tried to convince them to not help her husband as she "wanted to teach him a lesson" and prevent him from visiting his second wife.

The man, however, did not press charges after the Dubai Police helped him settle the dispute amicably with his wife.

He told the police that he called the ambulance to save his life and not for the police to take action against his wife, Khaleej Times reported.

The wife apologised later and said she did not mean to harm him.

A diabetic coma is a life-threatening complication that causes unconsciousness.

Once early symptoms of a diabetic coma are noticed, treatment typically requires hospitalisation with intravenous fluids such as potassium and insulin. The diabetic coma can lead to death if left untreated.

I think here somone has completely mistaken the tratment and diabetic coma. The man must have called Police to tell he is going to get a coma because of less blood sugar. That is more dangerous than hyper (more)Once blood sugar goes down and hypoglycomie gets ,difficult to bring him back from conciousness. It causes severe brain damage when not immediate Treatment given like i.v Infusion Glucose or sugar or Dextrose tab.in mouth.it happens if Patient had tablets or Insulin and not taken meals in time sugar goes down.He must have had hunger and felt sweating and pulpitation which signs of less sugar because of starvation for Long period
