Pakistan appoints new navy chief


Islamabad, Oct 2 (IANS): Admiral Zakaullah has been named the next chief of the Pakistan Navy, Geo TV reported Thursday.

President Mamnoon Hussain has made the appointment on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Zakaullah will succeed Admiral Asif Sandila, who is set to retire Oct 7.

Zakaullah was commissioned in the navy in 1978. He is now the vice chief of naval staff.
