Hyderabad, Oct 11: With about 70 per cent of security breaches coming from within an organization, ethical hackers are becoming part of enterprise securities systems and certified hacking professionals are in demand.
The President of International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), Sanjay Bavisi, said that about 40,000 professionals have been trained to be ethical hackers, and of them 8,000 have been certified by the council.
The council, a New York-based organisation, has announced it has partnered with TechWorks Learning Solutions in India to be its exclusive authorised representative for training ethical hackers in league with some local companies and IT training institutions.
The e-business certification from EC-Council combines both business and technical training in security related aspects. Its clientele includes some of the large global companies such as Deloitte, Microsoft and verticals of Government, Defence and banking and financial services and healthcare sectors are in need for such expertise.
One important aspect a security professional needed to understand is social engineering. In-house security experts, in the form of ethical hackers, who can constantly track developments, are now being inducted in large corporations, Sanjay, said addressing a press conference along with the Managing Director of TechWorks, S. Hymavathy.
Recent surveys point that even from an IT security managers perspective there is poor understanding about the overall security management. Creating a firewall, having an anti-virus is thought to be adequate. But security breaches within an organisation constitute a big chunk of this problem. Therefore, the fear that a security expert keeps tab is sufficient to curb major part of such breaches, Sanjay explained.
EC-Council is the creator of the Hacker Halted conference and workshops that help technology managers to better understand the requirements.
One such would be held in China shortly, he said.
