Mumbai, Oct 4: Gowda Saraswath Cultural and Recreation Center celebrated their seventh annual Navarathri festival at Madhavendra hall at the Saraswatha Cultural and Recreation Center grounds of N L Complex at Dahisar east recently.
Sudheendra Theertha Swamiji of Kashi math blessed the occasion. He addressed the devotees and said that the institution of religion is the life of Indians. He hoped that the reflection of religious faith would bring about happiness and prosperity in them.
Suvarni S Nayak group presented Bhajans in the morning. Vaishnavi Shetty and group presented a dance programme in the evening. GSB sabha convener G Damodar Rao, joint convener Suguna K Kamath, president K R Mallya, vice president Mohini S Shanbhog, honorary chief secretary M U Padiar, honorary treasurer Mohan A Kamath and other office bearers, members and devotees received Gandha Prasada and became worthy of the grace of Sri Devi.
Mahakali adoration was held on October 2. GSB Samaja Western division of Goregaon conducted Bhajans. Devotees lit lanterns in the evening after 6 pm. Special Arathi was held in the light of innumerable lights by devotees. A Yakshagana play 'Mahakali Pratapa' was enacted by Yakshagana Mandali, Dahisar.
"Books were distributed to school children in the morning. A lucky draw of sarees received from devotees to the daiety was held at 4 pm which was followed by a procession," said Sanooru Manohar Kamath, chief organizer of Navarathri festival and secretary of GSB Sabha.
