South Korea, North Korea hold talks in Incheon


Incheon, Oct 4 (IANS): South Korean Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae is holding talks with a high-level North Korean delegation which arrived here Saturday to attend the closing ceremony of the 17th Asian Games.

The delegation is headed by Hwang Pyong So, vice chairman of North Korea's national defence commission and director of the general political bureau of the Korean People's Army, Xinhua reported.

The talks, which are being held in Oakwood Hotel in Songdo, mark the highest-level meeting between South Korea and North Korea since South Korean President Park Geun-hye took office in February 2013.

South Korea's foreign ministry has said that it was hopeful that the visit can play a role in improving bilateral relations.
