Indian, Pakistan armies exchange Eid greetings

Jammu, Oct 6 (IANS): Despite tensions on the border, Indian and Pakistani armies Monday greeted each other with sweets on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Edi.

Military spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS here that the sweets were exchanged at the Chakan-da-Bagh crossing point on the LoC in Poonch district.

Indian and Pakistan troops also "wished each other well", he said.

The exchange of greetings comes on a day when five Indian civilians were killed and 29 wounded in mortar shelling and automatic weapons firing by Pakistan Rangers on the international border in Jammu district.
