Mangalore, Oct 13: Having realized the long-standing dream of direct international flight to Bajpe airport, the demand for a full-fledged passport office to the city has once again come to the fore.  For long there has been a demand for a full-fledged passport office in the city owing to the increasing number of passport applicants from the Dakshina Kannada and neighbouring districts.  But for some unknown reasons, the passport office has eluded the city.  As of now there is only one full-fledged passport office which is situated in Bangalore.  This means that rest all applicants have to go through the delayed process to avail their passports.

Now the NRIs and office bearers of Dubai-Kuwait Kannada associations have demanded the union government to establish the full-fledged passport office which will be of great help to lacs of applicants.  A delegation comprising of James Mendonca, Walter Nandalike, Frank Fernandes, Rajesh Sequeira, Pascal Pinto, Denis D'Souza and DK Congress vice-president Ivan D'Souza met union ministers Praful Patel, Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha MP E Ahmed and former chief minister M Veerappa Moily recently and submitted a memorandum to them.

They also demanded for a cargo division at the Bajpe airport for the benefit of passengers travelling from Gulf countries.
