New Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS): A 25-year-old woman was killed by her husband following a heated argument over his drinking habit, police said Wednesday.

Thirty-year-old Vinod Kumar killed wife, Priya, following an altercation triggered by his drinking habits. The incident took place 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The police was informed about the incident by Zubeida Begum, the owner of their rented accommodation in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar area.

Quoting Zubeida Begum, police said that the couple used to argue frequently as Priya was not happy with her husband's drinking habit.

"He (Vinod) came home around 8 p.m. and soon the couple got into an argument. Zubeida Begum heard a loud noise around 9 p.m. and immediately sent her son to check," a police officer said.

The police added that on reaching the couple's house, her (Zubeida Begum) son found Priya lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the house.

"Vinod attacked his wife with a baseball bat. A case of murder has been registered against Vinod, who is currently on the run," police said.
