Mangalore, Oct 15: Former president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and Member of Parliament B Janardhana Poojary has urged the government to initiate a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the riots that hit Mangalore recently.

Speaking to media persons on Oct 14 here, Poojary the trouble makers must be booked and thus a CoD probe will be best suited. Condemning the attacks, the MP said that the issue will be raised in the Parliament and pressure will be laid to ban those organizations which called for the bundh.

A compensation of Rs 2 4 lac has been distributed to the riot-affected families by the Congress party, he informed.

The Congress MP also had a word of appreciation about BJP MLA N Yogish Bhat for acting responsibly to defuse the tension and bring the situation under control.
