Toxic liquor kills 27 in Pakistan


Islamabad, Oct 9 (IANS): At least 27 people were killed after consuming toxic liquor in Pakistan's Karachi city, media reported Thursday.

According to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), several people were brought there after their condition deteriorated after consuming liquor to celebrate Eid, The Nation reported.

A JPMC spokesperson said the people were brought from Landhi, Korangi, Chanesar Goth and Sachal Goth.

All of them were between 15 and 23 years of age.

The spokesperson said 26 others were still undergoing treatment, of which five were in critical condition.
