Pakistani party seeks debate over border shelling


Islamabad, Oct 10 (IANS): The opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly (NA) on the cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir.

The motion was submitted by PPP members Shazia Marri, Imran Laghari, Nafisa Shah, Aijaz Jakhrani and Mir Amir Khan Magsi, Dawn online reported Friday.

According to the motion, atleast 12 people were killed and many injured in the firing, the media report said.

The clashes that started Sunday in the Jandrot sector spread to several other sectors by Wednesday evening and sporadic exchanges of fire were taking place.

The intensity of skirmishes was said to be unprecedented in nature.
